5 Signs Your Soft Serve Machine Needs a Technician

By Soft Serve Support — Team · 24/07/2026 · 1 min read

Catch these warning signs early and you'll avoid a breakdown in the middle of your busiest trade.

In short: call a technician if your machine won't freeze properly, is making new noises, is leaking, can't keep up in a rush, or the product quality keeps drifting. These are early warnings of a fault that's cheaper to fix now than after a breakdown.

1. It won't freeze like it used to

If product runs soft even on the right settings — and the condenser is clean and mix is topped up — the refrigeration side likely needs attention.

2. New noises

Rattles, grinding or loud compressor noise usually mean worn parts or a refrigeration issue. Noises rarely fix themselves.

3. Leaks

Water or mix under or inside the machine points to failed seals or O-rings. Left alone, leaks damage other components.

4. It can't keep up in a rush

If recovery time between serves has crept up and you're waiting on the machine at peak, it's working too hard — often a dirty condenser, low refrigerant or a service overdue.

5. Inconsistent product

Soft then hard, icy, or grainy through the day is a sign of worn scraper blades, mix issues or a machine due a service.
