Commercial kitchens run a lot of electrical gear in hot, wet conditions. Here's what test & tag means for your business.
Test & tag for commercial soft serve and kitchen equipment
Commercial kitchens, dessert bars and food vans run a lot of electrical gear in wet, hot, hard-working conditions. Keeping it electrically safe protects your staff, your customers and your business.
What is test & tag?
Test & tag is the visual inspection and electrical safety testing of appliances and leads to AS/NZS 3760. Equipment that passes gets a dated tag showing when it was tested and when it's next due.
Is it required?
General test & tag isn't legislated for every business, but in practice insurers, landlords and WHS/food-safety auditors expect it — and it's required in some workplaces. For a busy commercial kitchen it's simply good risk management.
How often?
It depends on the environment. Hostile, wet or high-use settings like a commercial kitchen or food van are commonly tested every 6–12 months. Your tester will advise based on your setup.
What about refrigerant?
Soft serve machines are refrigeration equipment. Any work on the refrigerant circuit must be done by an ARC-licensed technician (we hold ARC RTA AU47316).
We can handle both — electrical test & tag and licensed refrigeration servicing across South-East Queensland. Book a service or learn more about our service.
